The City of Columbus, Fleet Division was notified last week that they have once
again received the industry’s’ top recognition from the National Institute for Automotive
Service Excellence (ASE) (http://www.ase.com/). The Division continues to train and
test technicians to higher standards.
The City of Columbus manages more than 3,160 cars, trucks, patrol cruisers and
fire trucks, and over 3,128 off road vehicles. These ASE certifications, training and
testing resulted in lowered costs to the City of Columbus which means that our
technicians on the floor are better educated, better equipped, more diversified and more
knowledgeable in diagnostics related to all types of vehicles/ equipment repairs such as
fire apparatus, articulated loaders, street equipment, patrol cruisers and all types of both
light duty and heavy duty vehicles.
“We are proud of all the employees’ dedication and commitment to being among
the very best Fleet Operations organizations in the United States”, said Mayor Andrew
J. Ginther.
The City of Columbus remains the largest Blue Seal municipality in the U.S. and
ranks among the elite in the “Leading Fleets” program from Government Fleet
Magazine.
